Monthly Archives: August 2016

Hi you all!
How are you? When summer arrives, it’s great to enjoy the nice weather, don’t you think so? So today we came up with some nice ideas on how to enjoy your summer in London!

Are you a movie lover? Do you want to take advantage of summer nights? Or you simply want to chill under the London stars? Today we’ve created a list of “Summer Cinemas” you will be able to attend during this summer and we advise you to experience it :)!

Film4 Summer Screen at Somerset House

This event, which is celebrated yearly, started on the 4th of August and it will last until the 17th of August. It offers a mixture of films from classics and iconic to contemporary movies. Moreover, some premieres will be screened as well – on the 10th of August the Spanish film “Julieta” by Pedro Almodovar.
It’s such an interesting plan in a gorgeous place in the centre of London. On the link below you can see more information:
Strand, London WC2R 1LA

Pop up Screen

As its own name says, this is a Pop-Up cinema and its location changes every weekend. They will be screening different movies, such as Pulp Fiction, Dirty Dancing, The Goonies… in different parts of London (The City, Holborn, Hammersmith, Hither Green, Fulham and East Greenwich).

The good point also is that you can get in contact with the organisers in order to propose them a specific film! Why not trying it?

Rooftop Film Club

If you’re thinking of something “higher” we propose you the Rooftop Film Club. It’s celebrated in New York and Los Angeles and London as well! It goes like this. There’s several rooftops in the English capital and every single day from the 1st of August until the 31st of August, there’s a different movie screening on. For example, today, we could choose whether to watch “The Exorcist” in Bussey Building, Gladiator in Shadwell or The Beach, Stratford.

Floating Cinema

Floating Cinema obviously happens through the different channels of the city during the summer. The programme offers a mixture between arty talks and films on a barge.
This year is going to be on the following dates and places:
Hackney Wick – August 18-21
Kings Cross – September 1-4
Mile End – September 22-25
The first event in Hackney will be a breakthrough British filmmaker, Daisy May Hudson’s Halfway explores the universal need for a place to call home within the midst of our very real housing crisis.
